First of all, there is no Imageready in CS3. It has been integrated within Adobe Photoshop CS3…quite well infact. Just abit odd to find everything, that image ready did. The process remains pretty much the same despite the change. Follow these steps and you have an awesome animated .GIF

  • STEP 1 : Have all your layers or images in a nice little folder.
  • STEP 2 : In Photoshop CS3, go to “File -> Scripts -> Load Files into Stack”
  • STEP 3 : A dialogue box will open up and you must now switch the drop down menu next to “Use:” from “files” to “folder.”
  • STEP 4 : Next click the “browse” button. Select the folder that your image sequence from the first step was saved into. A list of the files in the folder will automatically populate.
  • STEP 5 : Click OK.
  • STEP 6 : Once the images are finished stacking in the layers menu, click on “Window -> Animation” in the top menu. This will bring up the familiar animation palette that you will recognize from Imageready.
  • STEP 7 : On the animation palette, you will see a little icon on the right corner of the animation palette shown here:

Click it, then select “make frames from layers”

  • STEP 8 : All the layers will be pasted into the animation palette and you can edit them now as you would in Imageready such as changing the image size, canvas size, colors etc…
  • STEP 9 : Once finished, click “file -> save for web” and select gif. You can then optimize and preview your animation in this menu before saving.
